What to do if you think you may be experiencing an eye health emergency
Symptoms that may indicate an eye health emergency include flashes of light, spots in your vision, blackened areas in your vision, or pain. Call your optometrist and explain the situation so the degree of urgency can be assessed. Many optometrists hold appointments in their schedule to deal with eye care emergencies.
If you think you may be experiencing an eye health emergency outside of regular office hours or if you cannot reach your optometrist, please go to the Misericordia Health Centre’s Urgent Care Centre. The Urgent Care Centre is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year and is linked to the Buhler Eye Care Centre. Patients with urgent eye conditions are referred to an eye specialist as necessary.
